About this class

It can be very difficult to maintain a sense of calm and grow in a world where our personal circumstances, social and family circle, world events and the news try to convince us that we should be living in fear and anxiety.

This two-hour masterclass offers you a brief, but deep dive into the causes of fear and anxiety and how you can play an active role in controlling your own responses and helping those around you to control theirs.

  • The causes of anxiety and how anxiety and stress are related
  • What’s happening in your body and brain when you feel fear and anxiety, and why
  • How to control anxiety with a combination of physiological, psychological and social tools and practices
  • How to remain clear in a crisis, lower your baseline anxiety level and achieve deep relaxation
  • The meaning of Placebo and Nocebo thinking, and their associated bio-psycho-social effects
  • How to use the power of your imagination to manage your thoughts and feelings and to create appropriate responses to stressful situations

The session incorporates teaching, discussion and self-assessment, and some guided relaxation and visualisation. Questions are encouraged, and you’ll be offered references and further reading to extend your learning.
