Michael Jordan

Creating a Winning Team is an inspirational development program that trains leaders and their teams to improve their collaboration, communication and, ultimately, their performance.

Creating a Winning Team brings to life to the vision of developing strong internal partnerships within an open, transparent, and innovative organisation. How participants learn

Creating a Winning Team facilitates insight and action-based learning through short presentations, DVD showcases, interactive workshops and breakout exercises, as well as personal and group reflection.

Individual and group insight is enhanced by meaningful feedback from facilitators, and, as far as possible, case studies and breakout exercises are tailored to the daily realities of participants. This learning approach develops self-awareness for teams and individuals, provides opportunities to practice new skills, and increases participants’ self-confidence.

The modular design includes:

  • Three days of face-to-face training
  • Optional Team Leadership Skills module
  • Optional Leading & Participating in Virtual or Remote Teams module
  • Follow-up coaching

The follow-up coaching occurs in combination with the assignment of real tasks or challenges that are related to a team’s development process. These can then be shared and discussed during coaching for enhanced experiential learning.

Module 1: Creating a Winning Team
This three-day, face-to-face module covers the key elements of high-performing teams. The module is tailored to focus on real team issues for maximum engagement.

This offsite module effectively combines classroom training with fun and relevant activities that support teams in identifying and overcoming any dysfunctional aspects of teamwork.

Facilitators use a combination of short presentations, video examples, group and sub-group exercises, and development workshops to get the team on the right track.

Module 2: Team Leadership Skills (OPTIONAL)
This module is aimed at team and project leaders who are part of a larger project organisation.

The content covers key features of effective team leadership including communication skills, group facilitation, handling resistance, dealing with conflict, and key elements of leading virtual and remote teams.

Ideally, the training is conducted over two days face-to-face with an evening program on the first day. This module is highly interactive with many opportunities to practice team leadership and facilitation skills.

Module 3: Leading and Participating in Virtual or Remote Teams (OPTIONAL)
This module is aimed at team members and leaders who are part of a virtual or remote team.

It is delivered via three 90-minute sessions and builds on the content and insights from Modules 1 and 2. It engages both leaders and their teams in handling the specific challenges and barriers that are part of their daily reality. It also features tips, techniques and skills for leading and participating in virtual meetings and includes a model virtual meeting.

Module 4: Follow-up Team Coaching
A mix of follow-up coaching solutions supports the program to enhance the impact of the first module and ensure that key learning, insights, and commitments to new behaviours are embedded. This includes:

1. Executive Coaching
The role of the leader has a decisive impact on the team’s success. Furthermore, the involvement of the leader before, during, and after the training modules directly impacts how team members apply their learning and adhere to commitments. Coaching in this context is not a ‘fix it’ solution: it provides a support structure and ensures that sufficient attention is given to the process of leadership, team management, and collaboration within the team.

2. On-the-job Coaching
This involves a mix of regular face-to-face and virtual coaching sessions to enhance the performance of team members. It can also include real-time observation followed by direct feedback, as well as observation of virtual team meetings.

3. Personal Coaching
TNM has a pool of experienced, credentialed coaches to support the personal development of individual team members in transferring the knowledge acquired during the program into their daily practice and, as a result, strengthen the team overall.

Participants will benefit from

  • Fun, relaxed and interactive sessions that go beyond standard professional development programs
  • Highly experienced trainers with decades of leadership and coaching experience in an industry relevant to them
  • A holistic approach that develops their mind, soul and spirit
  • Social learning and support from other participants
  • Learning that fits within a tailored development program
