Coaching Circles in the Workplace

Coaching that builds wellbeing, communication and collective resilience.

A potent combination of collective wisdom, peer support and facilitated reflection

Coaching Circles are a powerful and cost-effective way of supporting employee wellbeing, strengthening communication, and developing sustainable performance across the organisation.

They offer a just-in-time, highly human development solution, where participants draw on real work and life challenges, share experience, and support one another’s growth in a confidential, facilitated group setting.

In our experience, Coaching Circles facilitate deep and meaningful learning. Participants benefit not only from the coach, but from the combined wisdom, perspective and lived experience of the group. This collective intelligence often represents decades of professional and personal insight.

Crucially, this approach creates fundamental and sustainable change — strengthening mental wellbeing, resilience and connection, while unlocking individual potential and retaining valuable talent within the organisation.

Who this program is for

We recommend Coaching Circles for:

  • Employees experiencing high pressure, change or complexity
  • Leaders and emerging leaders seeking support and development
  • Intact or cross-functional groups who want to strengthen collaboration and communication
  • Organisations looking for scalable wellbeing and development initiatives
  • Groups proposed and supported by HR / People & Culture teams

To gain the full benefit of Coaching Circles, we recommend group sizes of 6–8 participants.

What to expect on this program

Coaching Circles enable participants to explore real challenges, share perspectives, and make meaningful progress on both personal and professional goals — supported by their peers and a skilled coach.

Sessions are designed to be engaging, confidential and supportive, creating a strong sense of psychological safety and belonging. Participants learn coaching skills while also benefiting from group insight, feedback and reflection.

Spread over three months, the sessions are intentionally relaxed yet focused, fostering trust, openness and momentum. We frequently see strong informal networks form during the program, which continue beyond the sessions and provide ongoing peer support.

TNM coaches bring objectivity, deep listening and strong facilitation skills, helping participants clarify challenges, surface insights and translate learning into practical action. Where helpful, group coaching can be complemented with additional 1:1 coaching around key moments or transitions.

Having supported organisations across a wide range of wellbeing, leadership and development challenges, we tailor each Coaching Circle to the organisation’s specific context and pressure points.

Learning outcomes

Across a series of four to six Coaching Circle sessions, participants:

  • strengthen their mental wellbeing through connection, reflection and support
  • develop resilience by learning to navigate pressure, change and setbacks
  • build self-awareness and emotional intelligence for healthier interactions
  • learn and practice advanced communication skills, including active listening, powerful questioning and the effective use of silence
  • set and progress meaningful personal and professional goals
  • improve their ability to manage stress, energy and work–life balance
  • learn from diverse perspectives, unlocking fresh insights and solutions
  • strengthen relationships and trust within the group
  • for leaders, enhance leadership presence and impact on team wellbeing

Participants consistently report feeling more grounded, connected, energised and confident after each session.

How participants learn

When a Coaching Circle initiative is brought to TNM, we work closely with the sponsor and HR partners to establish a clear framework aligned to organisational priorities and values.

Participants begin with an initial training session introducing:

  • the benefits of group coaching
  • coaching as both an advanced communication skill and a way of thinking and behaving at work
  • the fundamentals of coaching using the GROW model
  • practical coaching skills including listening, questioning and presence

Following this, participants commit to a series of facilitated Coaching Circle sessions. While each group is unique, sessions typically follow the process below:

Phase 1: Alignment
The group establishes clear purpose, shared agreements and ways of working together. This creates psychological safety and ensures alignment with individual and organisational goals.

Phase 2: Development
Participants engage in regular Coaching Circle sessions (4–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart). Each participant has dedicated time to explore a real challenge, supported by group inquiry and coaching. The focus is on insight, choice and action.

Phase 3: Integration & Impact
Participants reflect on what has changed, what has been learned, and how insights are applied back in the workplace. The emphasis is on sustainable behavioural change and continued peer support.
