Research has shown that team members who receive coaching have increased levels of self-efficacy, improved work performance, better relationships, and improved communication skills. Not only that, but coaching also empowers leaders to improve the effectiveness of their teams, effect positive change and be part of building a coaching culture in the organisation.

An internal pool of certified internal coaches can deliver organisations incredible benefits and allows those who train as a coach – particularly leaders – to become an inspirational force of change, maximise the potential of their team and develop deeper and more productive relationships with everyone around them.

With a specific focus on coaching the people they work with, participants in the Certified Internal Coach program learn the coaching skills and mindsets that allow them to take responsibility for their own professional development, become more engaging and effective leaders, and help others to fulfil their potential.

This program holds International Coach Federation (ICF) approval for 60 hours, sufficient for participants to apply for the Associate Certified Coach designation.

Who this program is for

This program is designed for leaders who wish to become a coach and organisations wishing to create a pool of internal coaches.

Participants that complete the program can use the certified Coach Training hours towards an ICF coaching accreditation (ACC).

What to expect on this program

Over a period of six months, participants learn how to coach effectively, integrate those skills into their day job and become more engaging and inspirational leaders. Participants become adept at recognising opportunities for development in others and develop the skills to bring that potential forward quickly, efficiently and dynamically.

During the workshops, we explore the following competencies and skills:

  • Understanding how to recognise growth opportunities in others
  • Key coaching skills to develop and maximise potential in others
  • Knowing when to coach and when not to coach
  • Skills for challenging others deeply, effectively and supportively
  • Shifting one’s own leadership style to become an inspirational force for change
  • Setting powerful, motivational goals for individuals and teams
  • The skills to engage teams with company goals

There is a strong personal development element to this program that gives leaders a greater sense of self-awareness, empathy and an ability to self-coach through challenges.

It can also be readily adjusted to fit your business’s specific needs, goals and existing leadership programs.

Learning outcomes

This program has been run in numerous companies and has been refined so that it produces engaged, inspiring leaders who take responsibility for their own personal development and have the coaching skills to support their team with theirs.

Following the program, your organisation will have access to a group of competent coaches who can get to work both implementing a coaching program and using coaching skills in their everyday interactions with others.

How participants learn

The program employs learning methods such as insight learning based on short theoretical presentations, video showcases, interactive workshops, break-out exercises, as well as personal and group reflections.

Individual and group learning is accelerated by concrete feedback from the facilitator. This methodology develops self-awareness, allows moments for practising new skills, and increases participants’ self-confidence.

To a large extent, the cases and break-out exercises are taken from daily reality to give participants practical and relevant experience in applying new techniques.

The program is delivered in three modules across 10 days of live virtual and/or face-to-face workshops.
