The demand for training to help companies and individuals with cross-cultural training is nothing new. Over the past few years teams have become international, employees have been more likely to move abroad or work with people from other cultures. Clearly, the world we know today is a smaller place. We are more exposed, challenged, and more likely to need cross-cultural knowledge wherever we go.
The goal of this 2 day workshop is to communicate more effectively with others who have different styles by understanding how our expectations affect our perceptions and behaviors and by enlarging our understanding of the social and cultural patterns that sometimes affect the way we communicate. And by exploring ways to adapt our communication style to be better understood by others who have different worldviews. An essential part of the course is to apply a set of communications models to increase opportunities for finding common ground between different groups.
Traditionally the focus of cross-cultural training is on national or international differences. This course is also tailored to teams and organizational issues.
The course is not about specific customs and traditions from countries, and could never address, for example, what it's like doing business in the Russian Far East versus Southern Peru. The course provides a context in which we can begin to understand and put differences, culture and operating outside our traditional spheres of reference into perspective.
